As indicated last week the health and safety of our members is the top priority of the NZLLA Nat Exec.

Due to the uncertainty around Covid-19 we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Privacy Commission lunchtime session scheduled for Tuesday 24th March.

We are hoping to reschedule this session later in the year when things are a more certain.

There is a substantial amount of information in the media around Covid-19. We recognize that individual organizations will have their own policies in place in response to COVID-19, and members will need to be guided by their own organizations in response to this uncertain time. Specific information for NZ Libraries is being led by LIANZA and can be found here:

In addition a wider GLAM initiative is tracking closures,cancellations and reduced services across Aotearoa. You may wish to add your libraries information to this page

Applications for the VALA2020 Diversity Scholarships are NOW OPEN. These scholarships will fund three individuals attendance at VALA2020, at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, in Melbourne, Australia, from 11 - 13 February 2020.

The VALA Biennial Conference has grown into the largest fully peer-reviewed library technology conference in Australia and is widely recognised as the premier event of its type within this region. It attracts speakers, delegates and suppliers from across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and beyond.

In addition individuals MUST ALSO meet one or more of the following criteria:
• An Australian person of Indigenous heritage;
• An Australian person who resides in a regional, rural or remote location, including Darwin.
• A person who resides in the Oceania region or Timor Leste, where Oceania is as defined by the United Nations Standard Country or Area Codes for Statistical Use (see HERE and choose "Geographic Regions" from the left drop down menu).
