The New Zealand Law Librarians Association is calling for nominations for the following positions on our National Executive for the next year (November 2023 – November 2024):
• Vice President
• Regional Convenor(s): Auckland
• Regional Convenor(s): Wellington
• Regional Convenor: Southern
Being part of the National Executive is a great way to network amongst your peers, both within New Zealand and overseas. It is an opportunity to be involved first hand in decisions that move the profession forward and to have your say. Over the years members of the National Executive have been instrumental in establishing conferences, ongoing professional development, and networks with publishers and with fellow professionals in and outside New Zealand. Regional Convenors, along with a team of committee members have the opportunity to arrange exciting professional development opportunities for legal information professionals as well as the all-important social events!
Under the terms of the NZLLA constitution, those holding the position of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer must be able to ensure their presence at least three quarters of the NZLLA meetings at no cost to NZLLA beyond the cost of teleconferencing. This is not usually a terribly onerous requirement - there are 11 scheduled National Executive meetings per year (one each month except January) including one AGM. National Executive members are also expected to attend a planning day scheduled for January/February (date to be confirmed by the incoming National Executive).
Applications are open to current members of NZLLA who have paid their annual membership fee (this makes you a financial member of NZLLA).
Please note: Only financial members may nominate and stand for election. Nominations must be received by Friday 20th October, 5pm.
For further information, please feel free to contact me or any other member of the current National Executive.
In addition, if any current members have anything that they would like addressed at the AGM, please contact me.
